Where are you finding all these free tanks man!!?????

i think there similar to the "cheap" tanks we claim cost 20$ but in reality 200$....
or, i'm moving to where he is....

and my own story, well i have a baby community tank for now, my parents absolutely love it, and there going more and more nuts about it the more the plants are growing in it, my mum shows it off and my dad shows it off, 2 months ago it was MORE FISH, FFS, YOU GOT ENOUGH!
Now it's more along the lines of.... Can i name them. the hobby grows on everyone eventually.

Had 10 gals and always ended up with dead fish. Gave the hobby up.
Wife left me. Yaaaa!
Neighbor is tossing out a 29 gal stand lights filter. I ask him if he minds if I take it.
So 29 gal is up and running. 2 small koi purchased about 3" a few months later doubled in size. i know now what a mistake koi purchase was now I need to convince landlord (parents) to let me build a pond next year.

I then found a 29 at a thrift store for 20 bucks
then found a 29 with light and a stand on the side of the road on an other trash night.
So set up one in each daughters room

3 tanks up and running ya me

Oh went on craigslist fond a large tank for free. turns out large is 125gal with a 400 filter. ya me again. oh i have another one they might get rid of want me to call you? So the other was a 55 gal.

on the list a gain found 55 gal for 20 bucks
and a yard sale on the list for a 40gal for 15 bucks.

traded the 40 for an overflow box.

Now I need to build a stand for the 55 gal or the 125 gal. It should be a fun discussion because I live on the first floor with my 2 girls and my sister lives in the basement with her husband and 2 kids. The 125 would be above their bed. they are not happy with that idea and the old man is a crank bag. but time will tell.

the fish hobby certainly keeps me out of trouble. :)

These posts are for the most part, are well written and appreciatively priceless. They should be put into a book of short stories, when the entire thread is finished. I wonder though, what decade will that be?

I had a situation, where I started with one 55 gallon before I married my wife. When we were dating she'd be at a loss of words sometimes, looking at my tank. My wife was impressed of how nice it looked in the front room of my apartment. She liked it so much and so interested in my hobby, after we were married, she was always planning ahead for our next tank set-up. By the end of 14 months, we had achieved a total of five 55 gallon tanks. We had these for about 3 years until we moved to Arizona to care for her mother. That was 10 years ago. Now we are in our own place. Making arrangements for our first 110 gallon of hopefully many more monster tanks to come. I really never thought my wife would show such an intrest at the beginning. I feel I have been truly blessed.

My first obsession began with mom buying a small fish bowl...from there on
started to purchase my own entertainment unit from
2ft to 4ft finally 6ft by 2.75 ft by 2.8 ft now every time
i bring fish home she'll say save up ur $$$ its hard to come by.
She doesn't know i have future plans for bigger aquarium.

My hubbys always cranking about the fish. Then yesterday he says:
Wheres all the blue fish in the 100 gal
Me You mean the JDs and BGJDs
Him No the big blue fish
Me They paired up so I moved them to breeding tanks
Him Well that tank looks stupid now theres nothing in it
Me There is 8 catfish and a pleco in there.
Him You cant see them you should put something else in there :D
Me Running for my purse and into the truck:ROFL:

My parents have been putting up with my tanks (currently 3...or 4 including the turtles, 11 at one time however) for over 15 years, but now that I'm about to start what should be my last year of college (undergrad anyway) they should have less than a year to deal with it.

From there on out, it will be the girlfriend. Considering she has told me that I HAVE to get stingrays when I can afford to, I don't think it will be much of a problem...

yea my mom and step dad are completely ignorant and clueless when it comes to animals let alone something i love like keeping fish..its so hard to get anything out of them that involves anything i well like doing..cant wait till i move out..

Timing is everything...

My wife pretty much is sick of my fish obsession...

so yesterday night... she comes home from the hospital (kidney stones) and I spent the whole day with the kids and now taking care of her... I sit next to her, and we're watching the tanks...

Me: look at the koi, theyre getting bigger
her: yeah the white one especially
me: I just cleaned the filter, for the top and bottom tank, they're poopin a lot
her: are they okay:
me: well I was thinking of giving the swapping the filters from the top tank to the bottom and buying a bigger one for the top tank...
her: but our electrical bill...
me: it will only be a 5 watt increase because the bottom system will be more efficient... I found it for cheap on ebay!
her: okay... hey im getting tank envy, can i get the 10 gallon when the fry have grown up?
me: I thought you'd never ask :)

oh yeah.... the hydrocodone pill she just took probably helped me out too :D

I took a break for a while with having fish maybe five to seven years then last year I got me an 80 gallon for my room parents kinda tripped they didn't think I was going that big then I got another 55 then switch the 55 for an 80. Big sis started trippin about electricity. And from then til today with the two 80s I had to set up another 29 for an injured fish and just set up a five gallon tonight for my dads midas frys that's in his 180 gallon. Picked up a 50 gallon today also and its sittin in basement with a 90 gallon, 200 gallon, 55 gallon. Two 29 gallons a bunch of aquarium stuff and equiptment collected in this year. Like this post so much crammed together man I'm fished out for a while.... lol
