Considering North Carolina was part of the Alligator Gar's natural habitat I think you'd be fine. Just make sure to have a small ice hole heater like with any winter pond setup.

I have to agree with Ryan, gar sound terribly stunted.

Can you elaborate more on the dimensions of the pond? In any case I wouldn't put suck a small gar outside over the winter.

How is a 10 inch gar in a 1000 gallon pond stunted? I am going to get him a giant pond when he gets around 2 feet and he can live the rest of his life happily in there. I would get u a picture of the pond but i dont know how to work the monster fish keepers app very well.

Does anyone on mfk actually have a mature alligator gar? I've only seen pictures of little babies, I would love to see a pic of a large alligator gar and its housing if anybody actually owns such a beast
