Hey everyone! I finally got some decent pictures of Sunny! (And Dog!) Taken today. Just thought I'd post this in the lounge so everyone can see it.

And she wanted to eat the camera lens....lol, typical duck.

ive always wanted a pet duck your making me jealous :irked:

Hmmm, keeping a duck as a pet in the suburbs, it's strange...especially when you grew up near the city. But it was certainly a fun experience, if you guys want I can post the thread of her growing up. I started out with 10 eggs saved from a duck nest being attacked. Well, only 2 hatched. 1 died after 2 weeks. But Sunny made it through. She's almost 8 months old now. But she only weighs about 5 pounds I think, either that or my scale is broke. Pekins (white ducks) usually weigh around 10-12 though. Or she could just be a small duck. Anyways, I'd compare her personality to a small dog. Maybe even more loyal. I take her for walks all the time. She'll follow and never goes out of sight. If she can't see me, she squaks. She's fine towards other people. But a little skittish. I love her though. ^_^

love the DUCK how do you look after one of those?:headbang2

It isn't too difficult. I'd actually reccomend them for pets if you don't want a dog or cat. She doesn't cost much at all, maybe 10$ every 2 months for feed, and we supplement her diet with vegetable scraps. She is going through a little infection called bumblefoot. We caught it early though, so it should go away. But to protect her feet for future walks, we bought duck shoes. That's right, shoes for ducks...lol. I'll post pictures of them when they come in the mail, should be around Thursday.

what happens when she goes for walks? and how does this compare to the other wild ducks? do they get this too?

She'll follow me everywhere. Just Stick around. Jump into my lap. And watch other people go by. Wild ducks will NEVER get this tame. They can get tame enough to the point where they will walk up to you with no fear. But touching a duck is a whole different story. Sunny loves to be scratched on her underside. She'll beg for it, she follow me until I stop walking. She'll sit there standing as straight as she can until I finally give her a scratch. She'll make the funniest cooing noises. Then she'll plop down on my lap and take a nap. Until she poops on me at least...lol. But yeah, they are wonderful pets when you raise them alone.
