My Pet Duck as of 2010

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh, sorry Neer I read your post wrong. Bumblefoot is an infection caused by walking/standing on rough surfaces too much. Followed by open wounds/scrapes which will then get infected after stepping in poop. Wild ducks get it too, just not as often as they usually avoid the pavement.

ooooooohhhh! hmm interesting. is she on antibiotics now cos she caught this or you said you caught on early so its not that serious? do you have a pond or something she swims around in? she looks really cute! you're making me want to have one now :irked: and in london...where would i find a duck lol... i always wanted a hen though. dunno why, they just seem cute.

Lol, it's not too serious. Serious is when she slows down on eating and starts to show signs of pain. We're soaking her feet in warm water with iodine and epsom salt in it and then adding neosporin followed by a bandaid. We do this daily, and since the infection is still early she should recover in a week or two. In London....hmmm. I'm sure you have some farms there right? Farms lead to feed stores and feed stores lead to chicks and ducklings. Ducklings will go for 4$ around here, I'm not sure about London though. Or you could just do what I did, wait till late spring and find a duck nest. Though I saved the eggs from being crushed, I'm sure you can take a couple but leave the rest. ;)

wish it was that easy!! i'd have to go out of london to find a farm...and even then, i don't think i could get duck feed and stuff to give to the duck. can't we co-own yours?! :D

Thats awesome reminds me of when I had mine. My dad bought me 2 little Mallard ducklings at a feed store. Feed was dirt cheap and mom would trim there feathers down so they couldnt fly far. But they were very tame and never had a desire to leave anyways. We also had a kiddie pool for them to kick it in. I dont know how the neighbors were ok with it since we also lived in the burbs. One thing though food goes right through them!

LOL, uhh...you can "half own her" over the internet? I'll keep you updated? I'll send you her feathers? :D

Heck, Sunny could be the mascot of MFK! Lol, I can build a Monster Duck Pond. Hehe...

Cute! I've always wanted a pet duck for some reason, but everyone says they're pretty messy.
