My Red Texas project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How did you create "popcorn" pearls?
You don't lol. They are inherited from the carpintis. Its just how I describe the shape. Wipe away the drool for a second and clear your head so you can understand that.

I can't search my threads on here but there are a few pics in a thread called something about mfk shortbody breeders. I really don't take pics of fish until they are huge or I'm selling them. Got some f3 grow outs going maybe I will share some pics when I do tank maintance thursday or friday.

That one is red red red now. I have a lesser pearled super red that I think is a male. Keep thinking about trying him for fertility but don't really need him. I'm grooming a couple pairs again so should be overrun with fry in the spring.

You didn't laugh when reading the other times I quoted him or her? Lol

Can you take a pic of the super red male? Also, how big is he and how much would you sell him for?

Lmao I look right at the quotes usually.

There is a big lack of common sense here (where breeding is concerned) and the fact that people vocally doubt somebodies experience (4-5 years after the fact) is insane. New members put on your plastic sheriff badges and go right into disrespecting people trying to help you along.

I can relate to that. I went back and forth with RD. unnecessarily. Here I was, the new/inconsistent MFKer with much less (later shown to be evident) knowedge and experience. Yet, I brought up how he talked to people like they were less of a person, while also giving advice and teaching.
I'm understanding there is a lack of respect for any newbie or less experienced. Maybe we should take the advice and be merry.
Everyone had an ego, and some people here show it off whether lacking knowledge or not.

Edit:
*has* not had an ego

Well said. This part of the forum has become a joke, and when someone such as yourself takes the time to help explain things in more detail wannabe "red texas" breeders think it's some form of disrespect? Buy a clue boys & girls, the few that can actually help won't be for much longer. I myself seldom even lurk here anymore after the last bit of pissing & moaning I had to endure when attempting to educate FOR THE GOOD OF THE FORUM, only to be criticized because my online etiquette wasn't up to some peoples standards. Boo-hoo-hoo, it's not exactly like I'm getting paid for this. And when I left that thread it died, because no one could add anythng to what I said, or refute the facts presented. Some people should have just sat down, and shut up. That's what I do when someone who knows what they are talking about takes the time to help explain things to me, not get all pissy & defensive & attempt to call them out over every little bit of minutiae, such as what has been done here to AA.

And no offense to the breeders here, but when I saw this title I expected to see an actual RT project, which this clearly isn't. But hey, they're your fish, you can certainly do what you want with them, it's all good, but the advice that AA gave was sound advice, and you should have just said thank you sir & moved on. Not got all defensive. I read his comments as constructive criticism, nothing more, nothing less.

One of my RT's from the past, a solid 11" brute imported from Singapore several yrs ago. Nothing overly impressive about him, but he was one thick hoss of a fish.

He had RED RD he was a nice one.
You were right and I was wrong with the "etiquette". You're delivering us facts and substantial information and I can only speak for myself.
I'd want that pat on the back for even attempting, whether I'm close to real Red Texas or not.

And I apologize to you RD. for being a part of this "defensive newbie" force that isn't helping other new MFKers absorb useful info and apply it.
Thank you for contributing to US gaining knowledge in this area of cichlids and others.

Hey
No need to try and take shots at the ops fish. That's pretty far from offering advice or trying to help. I'm not sure what your trying to accomplish by calling me names. That's pretty weak. You never breed anything special & and the helpfully advice you offer is not your own experience-your just reposting things you hear or read from real breeders who have had success. You act like some guru & only take away from threads you comment on. The problem with anonymous site like this is they have fake ass gangsters like you. Maybe I'm wrong - You love it here because you act ways & post things you are far to scared to say to someone's face or be held responsible for.

This site has become a joke and has been for sometime now. But it's not because the newbies it's because of the people that of been on here for a few years at this point. Somebody joins in ask questions or start a thread and the old-timers jump all over it. Bashing someone's thread or projects in the name of helping them is ridiculous. Just because you been breeding for a few years doesn't mean you're any good at it and it doesn't give you the right to act better than anyone else. Telling someone they don't know what they're doing and taking shots at their fish -that's all the know it all's offered in this thread. If you're so experienced and have so much to offer you should be bringing a lot more to the table than that. Newbies will always be a part of these forms and they will always ask "stupid" questions. That's not going to change. What could change for the better is how the people with knowledge and experience act and how they go about sharing that experience.

This section has been a joke. Every post seems like its a "rate my 2" FH I bought from Walmart". No one is either doing or sharing cool breeding projects. Anyways...

I would cross that F1 fader female back to the dad not the brother because he has no pearls. Then you might get some faders with pearls. 2 years is a long time to do a breeding project with minimal results. No offense just saying. The fry don't fit the description of a red texas. Some look more like mid-devils. But take this as constructive criticism.

Popcorn pearls?? Reminds me of popcorn player from the movie How High. Lol. Hopefully that doesnt catch on because I already heard of armored pearls and titanium pearls then you'll see a people asking "what if i cross a popcorn pearl to a titanium pearl??" Haha. Aquatic Aggression's advice on breeding is on point from what I've read. Anytime you use a parrot or a KKP you're going to lose a lot of pearls.

Reread buddy. I was cut down immediately upon offering some very gentle advice /opinion. With the "duh" comment and the assumption of a "condescending attitude". This thread should have been called "my parrot and texas pair and their offspring". Then your bizarre attitude when you popped in to be the hero.
