Will do, I was planning on taking more pictures once I got home anyway.
You dont see many posts/pics of adult gold dusts. They're real nice looking but might take some patience

Well I was just going to go to sleep but jaws reminded me to post the pictures so here ya go. I’m thinking it is a gold dust because of the eyes.

Also, since there aren’t many posts about them as full grown do yall reckon it could help the hobby if I did a journal thread about my gold dust?

Would help as there a few keepers.

Well, The first night in the 55 growout and the gold dust jumped out. I knew there was a chance because I had read stories about it happening but I didn’t think it would actually happen..... I’m not sure how long he was there but he was a bit dry and covered in carpet debris. It took a few minutes of being in the breeder box I put him in before he could swim again but after about 30 minutes he appears to be doing just fine.
This is what the top of the 55 looks like now

Lesson learned.

Update on the gold dust, he is doing just fine.

That photo I placed for my 10” Gold dust is about 5-6 years old. I got it from a friend a few months ago. I’d like to see a Goldie that is 12”. Not many out there.

Do you think/know if it is because of genetics, people don’t keep them long, or something else?

Folks like to move on to something different because they find the inactivity of the gold dust intolerable.
Agreed.

Very good looking fish but also very shy and slow growing. That was my experience

So I might never see him and he grows slowly? That sounds perfect for me. I don’t know what it is but I just love bottom dwellers in general even if I never see them except once a month. When I do see them it’s a gift I’ve being given. As for the slow growing, well that just means I can enjoy the fish for longer.
