here is a pic of my catfish i just took today, hes about 10-11 inches long now and ive had him for almost a year. Currently in the tank with some oscars and a pacu and a pair of small convicts. this pic is from my cellphone so sorry if its fuzzy, hopefully ill have some new ones from a camera with all my fish up soon. for size reference the magnetic cleaner underneath him is about 4 inches.

That catfish would have been 24 inches at 6 months if it had been properly cared for...

I saw one of these at my lfs today, he was being kept with dozens of loaches, clowns, yoyo and weather. Happiest catfish I've ever seen haha.

* i purchased him when he was 2 inches so im not sure how you could get that kind of a growth rate out of a fish, i feed cut up shrimp and pellets 2-3 times a week, and when he was smaller every other day, i change the water 50% bi weekly. i am open to suggestions though on what i can do to improve my fish's health and get them bigger

Check your water, i bought one of those at 10 inches, in 2-3 weeks i got another 2 inches out of him. He was a rescue fish too, so they have the potential to grow at a crazy rate. I fed him massivore daily.

Horribly Stunted ....should be at least 24" or larger.

The tank is terribly overstocked and the filtration and water changes obviously inadequate for the bio load.

A pacu in a 180? Seriously?

You need to reconsider the way you care for your animals. Its not really fair to them to force such big fish into such small tanks.

That cat fish needed a tank more than 3x the size it is in a long time ago. Please for the sake of the animals that you took on the responsibility of caring for, get either new and proper homes for the fish, or get tanks that are appropriately sized. A 450 would take care of everyone but the cat fish for life and the cat fish would be in good shape for at least the next 6 months.

When you say 50% biweekly, do you mean 2x a week or every 2 weeks. Your water is green, that says you don't change even a fraction of the water you need to. With that bio load, you would need to change 50% of your water a day and I am not sure even that would be enough.

I am afraid to ask..... how big is the pacu and how long have you had it?
