my RTCxTSN 180 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the water isnt really green, like i said before its a cell phone picture and the lights arnt good, as for water changes its twice a week. i know i should have upgraded the tank a while ago, but im in the process of getting a new house and moving so building one at my old house would be a waste, since the size of the tank i need in gonna have to be built on location, also the pacu it about 10 inches had him 6 monthes.

my RTC/TSN was about 3 inches when I got him two weeks ago and is now 7+ inches. I suggest daily feeding, more frequent and larger water changes, and perhaps a reconsideration of the current stocking.

i think i should start changing the water every other day then? and maybe get rid of all the fish except the catfish and pacu? i know it would still be to small for them but i want to keep them until i get my new tank built at my new house because they are my favorites

that would be a better bet. I change all my tanks 2x a week @ about 30-40% each water change. There is not substitute for water quality, of the utmost importance.

Pacu will grow an inch a month until they reach about 20" long, then the growth slows. They do a LOT better when kept in groups of at LEAST 2-3 than they ever do solo.

When you get the bigger tank, please adopt a pacu off of Craigs list that is in a tank too small for it.

ok so sounds like more water changes should help? and kdrun76 i will probably adopt another one, the tank i will be building at the new house will be at least 1000 gallons, hopefully 1800 though because theres a spot big enough for that. would that be big enough for the cat and 2 pacu when they are full grown?

yes, that would be a size that could house and adult species of both of these fish. The thing to remember when constructing this tank is, footprint over height or length when it comes down to it. Wider is better :)

i will defiantly put up pix step by step as it gets built, hopefully ill get started in about 2 months if everything goes right.
