My saltwater journey

Yeah, you can't impulse buy in this hobby. Everything is so expensive compared to freshwater. Also, I live 2 hrs away from a saltwater fish store so that helps with impulse buys. The only fish on my radar right now is a pair of Golden Nuggets.

I cannot wait until I can order a pair of these. Other than that, I'm mainly building a reef tank. I want to start slow with fish but really fill it up with LPS.

One question I have for you is when do I add my cleaner crew? Without fish won't they starve?
you will have to feed them something. same stuff youd feed fish just less.

As soon your tank cycled you can add your clean up crew (I refer cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp over hermit crabs or snails) and feed them like usual cut fresh prawn or anything that sink to bottom, treat them like you keeping shrimp without fish in fresh water.

It's nice but not worth for $299 :)
yeah kinda agree. Clowns are ehhh. Sorry, but Ive bred them I was bored with them except for the you're gonna get bit every time your hand goes in the tank thing, kind of a boring fish. Clowns will also probably try to host your lps hopefully they don't destroy it .

lol I've had a pair before and they didn't bite but I've read that the maroons are the most aggressive clown. With such a small tank (32 gallons) they'll have to do. I'd really like to keep the larger tangs and triggers one day.

Tangs are nice and great schooling fish (yellow tang), and trigger (I'm refer clown trigger and titan :) they have very unique personality, bold and bond to its owner like some of fresh water cichild, the down side for those 2 triggers that they required extremely large tank LOL and pretty much own their tank and kill all tank mates once they hit 6~10 inches same like Dovii.

Yeah, I couldn't image maintaining a massive reef tank right now. The great thing about this 32g cube is it's all in one and I can get by without all of the gadgets you'd see on a large reef tank. I might get into that one day but I'm keeping it simple for now. When I get into a bigger house I might try a large salt build. Who knows. I'm liking all the space that I have in my office at work and I'm only going to have to dump 5 gallons of water out per week vs the 100 gallons of fresh I was dumping.

Holy cow... I've always been a skeptic on bottled bacteria but I got this tank filled just the other day and yesterday after dosing 2ppm of ammonia and dosing a full bottle of instant ocean bio spira I have zero ammona and 2 ppm nitrite. Should I dose more ammonia or let it be?

Either way I think. Give it a bit when you get trates dose again. See if what you have is established then just keep it constant til it wipes it out quickly.
