My Second Attempt At A Planted Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks cool, are you running co2 and that stuff in there?

what do you plan on stocking as well?
Yes...I'm running co2 injection.

Not sure on livestock yet. Having spent so much time, effort and money on my previous attempt, my focus right now is to get these plants going first. Any suggestions...as far as cleanup crew?

Otocolinus are a good idea, as are shrimp with special mention to the anamo shrimp ( Fat Homer Fat Homer )

are you looking for smaller or larger fish in this tank as well? if you are going smaller rosy barbs are a good choice, very colourful, peaceful and just fun to watch overall :D

Eh, cardinals don't live too long and often hide in plants a lot if given the chance apparently.
not to mention the price nowadays

Have you seen pearl danios before?

I do think a big school of cardinals or even neons is impressive. I danios are nice too and real active
Pearl danios are not as crazy and smaller than their other counterparts :)

Depending how much you want to spend, Cherry Red Shrimp / Sakura Shrimp are one option which tend to be slightly more forgiving...

Otherwise moving up the ladder you have Crystal Red Shrimp that look pretty nice with different patterns but require cooler temps and less forgiving with bad water...

Going up again you get stuff like King Kong shrimp etc... which cost a pretty penny i think and can be quite sensitive to parameter changes...

Depends on your water parameters. My current batch has been with me for 3-5 years now. I'm losing track, it's been that long. And they don't hide, either!?
