For me, blue emperor is some variation of Malaysian spec.
Yellow emperor is Thai spec, found in southern Thailand & Northern Malaysia.
Normally yellow spec flower start to dev at small size, mine at 6" size.

Yep Malaysian specs seem to be blue and probably that German guy who breed them got lucky and produce a more bluer color Malaysian Emperor snakehead.

That would make sense.
I spoke to the guy that got me mine and he seems to think they were from Malaysia.

Just want to concentrate on carefully pumping my guys up now.

My guys seem to spend most of their time swimming in a pack at the top of the tank. Is this normal with Marulioides? All my other SH are the complete opposite LOL.

Also The bigger of the three seems to enjoy sniffing the anal area of the middle sized one of which it hangs out with mostly. Could this be a pairing sign? Would they start pairing up at this young age (mine are 4", 5" and 6").

Also any ideas on sexing them?

Cheers guys.

hey!! great looking emperor ... i've got 4 of them (1 commited suicide yesterday morning) ..

i'm not sure if mine's a blue spec or the normal kind ...
i'm thinking if they need lights to get the colours out nicer..?? like arowanas, they need to be tanned for a few hrs daily for gd colour to develop.. what's ur opinion on this..??

i also see u have an obscura in the tank.. can get more pics of that fella..??

No tanning doesn't work on snakehead. I don't have an obscura, I have a lucius.

for me, the main causes are the bloodline, water & enviroment issues, i'd read a fishing magazine, they caught a yellowish marulioides in south of malaysia too...
