Update:

Well, I lost the smaller goldfish. I'm not sure what happened, but it's a fair goldfish so it's anyone's guess. I never saw it eat so that could be part of it.

The larger one is doing well. It regularly eats all that I feed it, which is Aqueon goldfish pellets.

I've been doing a weekly 50% water change and the water is sitting around 70*.

I have talked it over with my wife and we are not going to be keeping it. However, I plan on holding onto it over the summer while I collect items to set this tank up as a planted tank. My hope is that it will be large enough not to be sold as a feeder goldfish by whatever shop I end up giving it to.

So, not the greatest update, but I will try to do my best with this remaining goldfish and hope it ends up in a proper home.

Well, it’s been a long while but I still have the larger goldfish, and I added another feeder goldfish in with it because I just wanted to get my son a fish one day. Lol.

It has grown quite a bit. I would say it’s around 4-5” now, and is super gearthy. I have just been sticking with the Aqueon Goldfish Pellets and both of the goldfish eat them really well. I feed them every night. I have also increased the water change amount to about 90% every week.

Here are some pictures, sorry about the quality of some of them but these guys never stop moving. Lol.

Still not planning on keeping it/them, but I have been going back and forth about what I want to do with the tank, and I still want them to be bigger, at least the larger on, before I give them to a store.

Yes definitely the bigger they are the less chance they’ll be fed! You’ve done a great job with them... sorry about the one that died.
While I agree with this 100% I think that them being larger also increases the chance of them becoming "chew toys" for some jerks Oscar because they want to see their fish rip another fish to shreds :(

Instead of taking them to a store have you thought about trying to find someone with a pond to take them? An ad on a local b&s site advertising them as "pond only" might get them a nicer home than a pet shop. And if no one takes them there's always the store as back up.

Just an idea. :)

I have thought about trying to take them to a pond somewhere. There is an arboretum nearby that has koi in their ponds, so I will probably see if they are ok with me letting them go there. Another option I’ve thought about is trying to Home them at one of the nearby Asian restaurants that have goldfish aquariums. I don’t think the restaurant aquariums are very well maintained, but still better than becoming dinner.

Large, healthy goldfish are always in demand. Somehow I don't think a restaurant aquarium will be big enough - each of your goldies has the potential to hit the size of a midas.

One of the restaurants has a 180 and the other one I’m thinking of has two 150’s. I’d still prefer the arboretum pond though.
