Hey guys, this is a fish journal for my super red tiger oscar. I got him 3 days ago, already had lots of advice from some of you on how to look after him and feeding. For those wanting to keep up with his growth and progress, i have created this journal thread. Im not sure how many people will be interested in this, but its fun for me at the verry least! I plan to document his growth and colour/patern development from 2 inches to adult hood.
The setup:
90 gallon tank, fluval fx6 cannister filter
about the fish:
He is apparently a 'super red tiger oscar' whatever that is, i guess we will find out as he grows...
He is exactly 2 inches currently, and seems to have a good appetite
It looks like from his patterning, that he is going to be a mostly black fish with some nice red sides.
Here he is 3 days after arriving at his new home, he usualy is a pale grey (stress) but i managed to snap a few pics where he was showing his 'real' colours here. At the moment he only stays in the corner of the tank and doesent explore at all. But he is eating readily about 3-4 times a day. I am trying to lure him out into the top of the tank with floating food occasionally but no luck. But i think he is slowly starting to associate me with food already. As he normally sits on the substrate in the corner. but when i come to the tank, he gets up and half swims upwards. Fingers crossed, but i think within a week he will be at the surface begging for food, and far far easier to feed.
