My tank thread.

Nice. I love chocolate cichlids. I've kept them with tetras before and I think the chocolates were either too slow or too lazy to catch them. They were very greedy though, used to spend most their time hovering by the feeding hole.
Not saying they are all the same though but may be worth giving the tetras a chance if you want to keep them. Could go either way.
I have heard some go alright with tetra some don't, I will see how it goes.
Had a toss up between these and some krobia spp, Rob has got some good stuff in at the moment .

Love the look of adult balzani, it would be nice not having to worry too much about heating the tank as well.
It sure would. I don't run my heaters much of the year and my Mrs still blames me for high electric bills.

I run the heaters with this stock, with the ca only had them on for a few months each year.

My tanks seem to stay in the mid to low 70s without heaters. I have the heaters off at the moment and my tank in the living room is sitting at 75.
I do keep an eye it during winter but it never seems to get dangerously cold.

Mine will drop to mid to high 60s in winter,

I kept my lone male years ago with small fish as well. He was happy to do his own thing.

And yes, as Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 said, they do like their food. Mine was such a gannet.
