I finally got my three gallon up and running. A lsh was having 60% off all live stock so I bought 5lbs of fiji live rock for $15, 3lbs of live sand for $7, clown fish for $11, 7 hermits for $5.50 and a green clown goby for $3.25. I didn't buy all of this at once, they're having this sale through the weekend and I've allow the tank to run and settle before I put the fish in. I went to another saltwater store and talked to the owner for a while whose been doing saltwater tanks for 25+ years. He said by using live rock and live sand I only needed a couple of days before I put a fish in or two. Hopefully he's right and everything works out ok. The clown fish has a great personality. Every time I'm in the room he does a little dance and comes right up to me. I looked up the dance and they say it's the clown fish showing he's interested and wants me/other fish to notice him. I'm sure you guys would know more about this then I would. They called it the "jig". He ate right away too. In a few weeks I'll get some coral. I'll make sure to keep a very close eye on the tank and have a 5 gallon bucket of water/salt covered for water changes. I also have an ro system for toping off whenever needed.

that looks like a nice aquarium but you can't stock it with many more fish. everywhere i went when i started my sw said 30 plus gallons to start but it looks nice.

Thanks guys. I don't plan and anything else, maybe one more fish will see how everything is. I do want some coral other then that will see. The filter does have a 13.5 turn over rate witch is great. I wish the tank came with a cover. I've looked all over the internet, I guess they just do not make one.

How long should I have the lights on for? I currently have them on a time for 12 hours.

Nice setup I am hoping to learn sw also someday

Good luck, it's only been a week but it's been great! I cannot wait to get a larger tank. I will once I've proven I can maintain this smaller tank.

congrates that looks nice maby add some coral and it would look awesome

I hear alot of people say that a small tank is actually harder to mantain then a big tank :)
