My three gallon sw is setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
congrates that looks nice maby add some coral and it would look awesome

I'll be adding coral in the next week or so.

I hear alot of people say that a small tank is actually harder to mantain then a big tank

It is, that is why I wanted to do a smaller tank before a larger tank. Here is my reasoning why and I think anyone who is looking at going into saltwater should do the same thing. It is extremely expensive to setup a large tank the "proper" way. Setting up the 3 gallon was $100 with fish and the tank. If I can maintain the 3 gallon then I won't have a problem with a larger tank. Think about it... If I were to drop a drop of food coloring in a 135 gallon it wouldn't do anything, but if I were to do it in a much smaller tank it may turn the whole tank that color. A little bit of ammonia or nitrate in a smaller tank is enough to kill a fish where in a larger tank it most likely won't do anything.

wow i totally under stand now yea i might do a little 5 gal hex nano salt ut idk i am trying toave up for a car cait wait to see the coral in there

good luck keeping that tank from crashing

3 gallon salt is a super micro! A 10 gallon is pretty difficult to keep it from crashing already, one little spark goes in that tank and everything is ruined. The bigger the tank, the more time it takes to crash it...simple. Either way, I think a 3 gal is too small for a clown(in my opinion).
Nice tank though, good luck! :D

I hope you finished the cycle. Or else this tank won't last 2 months.

Bad news. The clown fish jumped out in the middle of the night. What can I use to cover the tank so this doesn't happen again?

Thanks. I was thinking of getting a piece of plexiglass from homedepot but I wasn't sure if that would affect the lighting. Would the coral and everything still get enough light through the plexiglass?
