They are just tiny now. I have had 1 before years ago and lost it at about 3". I am determined to grow these out I plan to spoil them rotten. Everytime I see people successfully grow out adult EBJD' they are in groups last time I had a single. I currently have two I wonder if I should get another. They are both about 3/4 of an inch.

They are in a 75 with 2 - 3"peacocks. Will they be ok with the Peacocks. Peacocks seem to relatively passive as far as cichlids go.

One EBJD is noticeably more bold than the other. He is out exploring while the other is content to stay by his rock.

Not to sound like a broken record, but you shouldn't keep Africans and SAs together. Might be OK for a while but will inevitably lead to your EBJDs having their eyes plucked out

Jack Dempsey's are CA not SA. Never heard the eyes plucked out before (aside from Malawi eye biters) but I do hear that Africans and New world Cichlids shouldn't be kept together because of water perimeters. But I don't know if I believe it because I have seen several successful examples of Africans and new worlds kept together.

I was more concerned about the size difference. I hear peacocks are more passive but since I have never owned them before I don't know if it is true or to.

My bad, I generally refer to all New Worlds as SAs out of habit. But going by semantics, Peacocks are from Lake Malawi.

I suppose at the end of the day if it works for you and you like it, then go for it! For me personally, having kept multiple strains of EBJD I wouldn't necessarily do it. Too risky for such a fragile fish.

Wasn't trying to be a jerk when I said they are CA's just didn't know if you knew or not. I am not sure If I am going to keep the set up with the peacocks or not I might remove the peacocks because I do want to give the EBJD's the best chance. If I see a peacock go after and EBJD then the decision will be made instantly. Have you had success growing your EBJD's to full adults? If so any suggestions? Did you keep them as a group, singular, or with anything else?

I do love the Peacocks as well so I hope it does work.
