Mine eats everything: fish pellets, dry dog food, canned cat food, the occasional dead rat (captive-bred of course), raw eggs, hard-boiled eggs, peaches, blackberries, raw fish, fingers, whatever....

I had mine in a 40G until they were about 6-7 months old. They out grew it pretty quickly. Of coarse, I have two so it's a little different story.

They are now in a 125G and pretty comfy. I'd recommend tossing him in that trough. He'll have plenty of room to grow. You could always set it up like a stream bottom so he'll feel at home. Set up the filters all blowing the same direction, nice rocky bottom, plant cover, some koi and minows to eat! :cool-1:

Arrowanna pellets eh? from his size, looks like he likes em:)
I feed em EVERYTHING. Rosey's, Krill, Silversides, Brine Shrimp, fish of the day at the grocery store. They really love beefheart and any fish they can catch in my tank. (already ate a couple plecs and african cichlids).

Anyway, here are a couple pics. Love to see more of your guy.

Thank you for the list of foods i can introduce to him minus the rat... but i can see why he would need a rat once in awhile...how do you feed raw eggs?

Your guys are so beautiful and healthy looking and BIG.. we are in the process of setting up the frontosa tank and as soon as that is done i think we will go right to the tank for the turtle..setting up the trough.. but i will have to get back to you on how you did yours because it sounds great.. do you think i could also keep a very large catfish in with him.. with out either one bothering the other? Your pictures were great and as soon as i can get more i will post again.. thanks!! oh and thanks for the list of groceries too.. he will be so happy..

thanks a lot RedDevil.

Let me know when you are setting it up, I'd like to get a trough or plastic pond for them eventually.

I'd advise NOT to put catfish in with the snapper, not matter the size. Cats are relatively pokee and will get bit. My snappers ate two small ones, but they'll snap at any fish that move.

I have removed any fish I value and want to keep around from their tank. Although, there are some Ice Blue Zebra Cichlids in there that they cant catch, and they keep having babies!

Thank you i will definitly let you know because i know i will need some helpful advice.. and thanks for letting me know about the catfish, I look at the turtle now and it is hard to amagine what he will be like.. afterall he just eats frozen fish and arrowana pellets.. it will be so much fun watching him grow and especially that he will have all that room.. and i will start adding all the different foods..Be back to you soon..thanks again..

If your turtle is like Fluffy, it'll try to eat anything you drop in the water. So just crack open a raw egg and drop it in. Maybe just the yolk though; they stick together more than the whites.
