Naming Your Fish

I have to say that naming fish is necessary. I mean after all they are pets and pets just like people should have names, if anything nicknames. I enjoy naming them and most all but my plecos have names.

FHS'-Charles, Edward, Ichigo, Achilles, Soi Fon, and Baki.

Escondito-Snow White

Blood Parrot-Lord Blood

Red Texas-Demon Doom

i just call them what they are:
common pleco - brown
green phantom - green
white dot pleco - white dot
clown loach (biggest) - big clown
clown loach (medium) - medium clown
clown loach (small) - small clown
peacock bass (light olive) - light peacock
peacock bass (dark olive) - dark peacock

My heros breeding pair (most likely appendiculatus), male is Revon, female is Aurora after the Northern Lights since they show very iridescent shades of red and green (like the aurora borealis). Revontulet is the name that the Finnish call the Northern Lights, it means firefox...I think that's my most complicated one.

My clown pleco in their tank is named Pogo...anyone get the DFD reference?
I don't have a name other than Geo for my new gymnogeo rhobdatus in that tank.


In my mbuna tank:
yellow lab-Orbit
greshakei-Vayga (odd story involving misinformation from a store employee)
ob zebra-Jupiter (because she's orange and has spots)
albino zebra- Sweety (a very affectionate and sweet fish)
red peacock- Jager (tribute to my older red peacock named Hunter, Jager is German for 'hunter' and also a tasty beverage)
flametail ngara- Havok
sprengerae- Rusty...although my gf thinks I should call him dirty sanchez

haplochromis ruby green- Spectre (after a song by one of my old bands involving the colors red and green)

Newest addition, Baby Midas (3 1/2 " and already a nuchal!) Im thinking I might name him-Duke!

I have to see a fishes personality before I can name him/her. For some reason I have yet to name my baby Syn cause I can't think of anything...
 
I've always gone by the rule that if you name a fish it dies, but as of late, things have been getting named without said consequence.

Ornate Poly- Tini (a condition of the gift giver)
Senegalus with one eye- (Lefty) guess why...
ARTC- Big Red

That's it, 3 out of dozens and dozens. Everything else gets called by some variation of its common name. Big gar, little gar, The jag pair, The Hybrid (RTCxTSN), P-bass, and so on.
 
This is starting to become a pretty cool thread. I've always wanted to know what other people name their fish. :headbang2
