Thanks for the info. I see you live in wisconsin. Have you ever bought live rock from foster and smiths?? I was thinking of getting my live rock from them. I live like 20 miles from there store. so I could save on shipping. I just dont know anyone who has bought any live rock from them.

I help my cousin setup his tank, and he bought 100lbs from them. They shipped it free of charge because of the large purchase and we had all the rock in the tank with everything going in about 30 hours. Thats from time of order too time of receiving shipment. I am very pleased with there fiji rock. Something you should look into.

first and foremost i would check your water parameters. You can learn everything about your tank with testing it. I would target nitrate and phosphate for obvious reasons being there most likely the cause. See what those levels are.

One method of removal of the Green Bubble Algae which by your description is only half of the problem. The bubbles cannot break into the tank or they will spread. so its best advise to carfuly role them until they break free. then net them out of the tank. Id do this with the filters off just so you can better remove the algae.

The other type of algae sounds just like cyano but green. Pretty much regular blanket algae. usually caused by low water flow and poor water quality. Ill do some research to make sure that this is the type of algae you dealing with.

also a pic may help. I have seen where bubbles will form under the algae but are not bubble algea by scientific means. if thats the case then hand removal, increase in water movement and a large water change should help get ride of it.

Post a pic if you could, your water test readings. Other things that will help would be size tank, number of powerheads, type of filtration, wheather you have coral and inverts or not. Things like this.

How's it goin. I have a 3 gallon Picotope tank that has a Green Chromis and a baby Horseshoe crab. I also have a 15 gallon nano tank with a Clownfish, Bicolor Pseudochromis, and a Sailfin Blenny. I need some help. I have such a bad hair algae problem and I don't know what to do.

Its very important to always test your water. As I said in my post for pevin, testing you water is going to answer a lot of these questions. Do some water changes, i would advise about 5 gallons and this will help reduce the amount of nitrate and phosphate, which are leading causes to algae outbreaks. Keep up on the water changes and your going to have to remove the algae manualy. This should slow the growth down until it disapears.

Im surprised the blenny is not eating any of it.

Hi, I have a ten gallon laying around that I want to turn into a nano reef. i want to stock it with a clownfish and eventually some soft corals, sea anemonies, things like that. Along with the clownfish and coral, any other ideas for fish to stock it with?

you not going to get much in there. If you set on keeping an anemone and clownfish combo, then consider another samll fish. Clown gobies do great at adding a splash of color and of course you can have a few other corals.

Concentrate on lighting. You need some strong lighting that will not creat a lot of heat. I recommend T-5 HO. A good set for that size tank will not cost much. Only problem is you cant get them in a 20" lenght. Its either 18 or 24.

is a good light but its a 24incher. going to have some overhang.

Do you have a filter and what not yet?? if not just go to petsmart or something and get a 20 gallon tank. Cost you nothing darn near and you can get a light that will fit perfectly and you increase your stocking choices a little. Something to think about.
