I hate NASCAR, extreamly boreing. I don't consider it a sport either, in my eyes a sport has to involve moving your body, not a car.

the question is, why would you want to :)

Nascar does not involve any physical activities to show you are a better athlete than the person next to you.

i personally feel its boring but it takes a lot of skill jockeying and jostling for position at those speeds. It definitely qualifies as a sport.

Sure it takes a lot of skill, so does music, art...whatever. We don't view music and art as sports though do we?

You ever considered how strenous racing cars are and what kind of concentration it takes? If some people can consider bowling a sport, then i dont see why racing cars isnt.

And i dont see where music and art came from... Im using skill in the context of how racing cars should be a sport. Maybe youre trying to point out that racing cars should be classified as an art form or a form of making music?

maybe i was a little harsh with my selections. Don't know how I came up with Nascar is poo

But look, I understand racing 500 miles or however long they race takes skill. But it is no way a sport. Racing in general is nice, but not a sport.

Ok .. then lets define the word sport ..

a. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
b. A particular form of this activity.

2. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

You guys dont think racing cars does not involve physical exertion ?

sport:

Sport is a PHYSICAL ACTIVITY involving large muscle groups, requiring strategic methods, physical training and mental preparation and whose outcome is determined, within a rules framework, by skill, not chance. Sport occurs in an organized, structured and competitive environment where a winner is declared.

:)

this is straight from the dictionary....i swear.....

Sport: not nascar

I would probably watch it and enjoy it if it wasnt shoved in my face every day. I cant drive to work without seeing a billion things about nascar. I'm just sick of it and my veiws about it are skewed.

Really, i think the sound of the engines roaring is better than a lot of the "music" thats out now. lol
You can call anything a sport if you want to, like curling :D
