Here is another view of the planting.

Those planter cups are conspicuous from this angle, but that is in part because of the light reflecting up from the bare glass tank bottom. The planters will become more obscured as the plants grow in and throw more shade.
 
Of course. I've been watching your rips for a while, wanting one but haven't started yet. Have you figured out what type of fish you're putting in there?
 
I am still pondering fish selection. I will probably end up using some of the extra stuff that I have around here. It is only about 10 gallons of water so it won't take much.

I have a start on the hardscape. I decided to go with the lace rock.

Nice rock, I'm using the same type in my "Iwagumi" tank... check it out in my sig.
 
Thanks. I have had several people caution against using lace rock in tanks because it increases hardness, but I think that that effect is overblown, and the plants need some hardness minerals anyway.
