If the football players were forced to play out the year I'd maybe care but come on.....it's a tec school. You don't go to tec school for the athletic program except the football program. They're free to leave. What's the problem?

Maybe it'd resonate more if I called it an ivy league school (like Princeton or Harvard or Yale) instead of tec school. You really think athletics matters to the students that excel in those type of schools? It's a higher standard of academics then Texas or Florida. It'll just go back to kicking arse in academic

Yes innocent people are being hurt, but that's why all this started. Although the wins will be struck from the record books the accomplishments of the players can't be taken away. What did change is JoePa going from the all time winningist coach of all time to the 12th. Championships are being stripped from the school on paper, but the players will always know they earned it. I don't think this will hurt the former players, except in their opinion of the school and the staff. Current players are being given a free pass to transfer which is unheard of. Recruits will just choose a different school that is bowl eligible. The school is the one that will suffer in the longer run, and hopefully will serve as an example for other schools to not cover up indiscretions the way Penn St did.

That makes sense. Thanks!

Don't forget that they took down the giant statue of JoePa, although the original plan wasn't to remove it but to just alter it so he's looking the other way.

Bwaaahahahaha...That was a good one!

What does this mean?

Does that mean that they don't count? Cuz I don't think that's fair either. Its not the players' fault. They're the ones who earned the wins...

yes ,execot for the 2010 ohio st game both teams had to vacate victory....go big 10!!!

I was going to make a thread about this topic this morning. IMO the punishment wasn't much. USC received a similar punishment for giving Reggie Bush money. I realize you can't pay college players but I thought that was harsh. The problem I have with PSU is they placed football before the victims. The fact Joe Pa held information about this and the fact it went on for so long and wasn't spilled because it'd tarnish the school is awful. I mean they got a 4 year bowl ban who cares. It's not like they'd be a BSC bowl contender anyways. Now when they did that to USC that was an issue since they were a national championship contender. The program really should of received the death penalty. Take the year off come back next year brand new team and that dark history behind. A lot of rebuilding is in store and quite honestly I don't think they'll ever be the same team or school.

penn states punishment ,much worse...4 years of only 65 schollies thats 1aa level....they are cooked .this is the modern day version of the death penalty

The money is going toward child abuse foundations. I'd rather it was 10-15 mil a year for 10 years toward child abuse charities.

USC didn't get swatted for money and did not lose as many scholarships and only vacated their bowl games. This is way harsher

Kelly, the coach, athletic administrator and school president were all involved. This WAS athletics and academics intertwined
