your buddy is wrong...you should listen to some one that has been keeping aros for a while...i have had a silver aro that got to 24"+ in 10 months it was 3" when i got it...the one that i have been growing out since jan. is now 10-12"...that one was 2"+- when i got it...the other 2 silvers i have i just got so i can't give you growth rates on them yet...

long story short your aro should out grow your 90gal well before a year if properly taken care of...

ya, it is one thing to say "oh i know this guy that has had amazing growth rates on his aros" ...it is another to say "my aro grew THIS BIG in 10 months!"
 
whoa i didnt join to get gang banged lol. I was going off of wut my friend was telling me. obviously i was misled. ill take the info as constructive criticism instead of every1 acting like i dont know wut im doing lol which is true to an extent. i was planning on following wut my friend tells me to do. I guess ill give it back to the lfs since i cant house him for much longer. I do have a 300g ply build in mind. but have different plans for that. And as far as the gar, i dont know to upload pics here. its asking for a website url.

just informing you that you were misled...aros can be housed with many many diff fishes once they are bigger...what are the plans and how long for the 300gal?

as for the pic you have to do photobucket and copy/paste it to the post you are making as the attachments don't work right now...


they have other sites for that...lol

if you were in you house and not an apartment i would say you could keep the aro...since you are not just waiting to buy the wood for the build the best thing would be to return the fish, then when you are building the set up get another fish...i myself have had to sell some big cats cause i have to go into an apartiment due to my house plans falling through...so having said that you should just wait till your ready then get some more...
 
thats a characin...i have seen them labled as SA GAR...not a true gar...cousin to the 'silver gar/rocket gar'
