What kind of gravel you using? You can use silicone and silicone the gravel on the bottom of the PVC pipe to hold it down. Or, silicone a piece of slate to the bottom of the PVC.

Too big of rocks do this and have it look good I believe.
Here is acouple pics so you can see the gravel i use.
Slate my work though.......Where could I find slate for sale-what kind of stores....I do not have acess to much up here.

i could be wrong but whenever the pvc pipe is pushed down i believe a small air bubble gets caught under the top so if you drill some holes it will let the bubble esscape and the pvc to sink..its just a suggestion..maybe try on a small piece of pipe to see if it works out first before you try it on the actual one you are using

No air is trapped-I can turn the pip at angle to get trapped air out...

It simply will not sink on it's own

When driftwood gets moved from my big fish-
this tube comes to the top of my tank with serious force....enough force thats it's going to break my tank cause of it....

This Eel is my pride and joy....And quite Rare for what I have.....

does it have to be the same dimensions as you said?
i bought a small cylindrical trash can with the hinging lid. i took off the lid and cut out the bottom to make a big tube for my RTCxTSN. it works great.

What kind of Can are we talking here. Are you sure it's one that isn't messing with params.
You got a pic-this thing metal or plastic?

it does have to be roughly that size...Anything really smaller and my Eel wouldn't have much of a home.
It has to be that diameter to prevent other fish from entering his home....My cats are ruthless

well then thats prolly a no go. its plastic and about 14" diameter and about 3 feet long.

I use the white PVC tubes from I think menards or lowes..I'm not sure how different these are.. but I have never had issues with boyancy. otherwise i'de also suggest the slate idea. you can find it cheapest at a home improvement store usually. Usually where they have all their decking/landscapeing stuff.

My problem is Lowes or Home Depot do not sell a 4 inch diameter

I got a local plumbing store that sells what I need-
But in my area something like this even is exspensive to purchase.I just need an answer to what kind actually sinks on it's own.

Does ABS or PVC sink on their own? if so....Which one is it exactly? I think they make both in Black and white colors......I would dig mine out of my tank to check to see what kind it is for sure-But truthfully that would be a huge production on it's own.....

Someone here has to know this darn answer....without guessing...

I have a 2' section of PVC that I silicones lava rocks to. It is aesthetic as well as beneficial for filtration creating lots of area for bacterial growth. It stays at the bottom with no problems. I did leave one strip without the rocks so that it sits flat on my substrate. Lava rocks can be found at just about any retailer that sells charcoal. I'm sure this would work no matter the length/ diameter of PVC.
