That sound good just make sure u upgrade when the JD it get to big for your tank.

okay then will try to but can you tell diffrence between male and female dempsey

Google:
H. carpintis or H. cyanoguttatus.
I find these guys to be more active then the JD's I've kept or have seen.

Females will have a lot of blue markings on their cheeks... males will have lots of blue on their bodies.

Hi Josh. Are you planning on upgrading in the next year or will this tank be their permanant home? You might have said somewhere else in the thread and I missed it. You shouldn't get the JD unless you do plan on an upgrade shortly. Just stay with smaller sized cichlids like convicts, firemouth, salvini, neets, sajica, cutteri, HRP, rainbow, australius, balzani, etc. Of course not all together, you would have to research what you like and what's compatible. There's also over 50 species of apistogramma and all sorts of dwarf cichlids. Also dwarf crenicichlia (pike cichlids) make great pets. Remember, just because a fish fits in a tank doesn't mean he's comfortable. GL and have fun with it.

also just wondering what is max size of female dempsey is it same as male

So female would end up being a better candiate for this tank than male probably
