yeah!!! thats what i was saying!!! but i was getting worried in case he wasnt taking well to my tank conditions or something :D cos i acclimatised him sooo slowly!!! but i think my one has already reached his potential size? i dunno..he is already big..i think he must be 10" or 9" at least because i he doesnt fit in both my hands. how big do these guys get? right now he is in a 150 gallon and he seems to be enjoying the space. i can see scratch marks everywhere all over my bogwood where he's been grazing

Mine is a big giant Panaque nigrolineatus last measured at 16". He's a beast. I don't think your watermelon is done growing. I would suspect on a good diet you could very well be seeing a couple more inches out of him (or more). I'm sure he's loving the bogwood, especially if you don't have any other plecos in there. It would be pristine grazing. What are you feeding?

well i only got him today! the guy came to drop him off! so im surprised he's settled in so quick. but i've kept other L numbers before, but never a panaque. im thinking of feeding him the tetra catfish wafers, shrimp, and different veggies? sound like a good mix? i'd probably start with some zucchini, carrot, peas and take it from there.

sorry i also meant to ask - what do you mean by "pristine" grazing? no..i had a L200 in there but then moved him to a planted tank.

Sounds great. I learned the hard way and didn't feed the shrimp shell on, and all my plecos odontals fell off. I started feeding krill again that obviously had the shell on it, and it totally helped when I did. (I feel like a broken record today on this. Third time I've suggested it today, but I swear, it was a big difference!) :)
Oh, and my panaque LOVES sweet potato hands down over any other non-meat item. He'll eat the zucchini and stuff, but only once he's chowed down on the SP. I haven't thrown in peas. I wonder if my guy would eat that. I'll have to give it a try.

yeah actually i can see whiskers there - but maybe it can grow a bit more. i'll just experiement with different things. i hope he grows more in size because i wanted to see him actually growing up in my tank - just didnt realise he was going to be so big!

LOL yup. These guys can end up as total tanks! Their mass just keeps growing like crazy. If he puts on two inches, the diameter around his head is going to be significantly larger. And then there are those mouths. I'll have to get a measurement on my guys, but it makes my finger look little when I put it next to his giant scrubber. You'll enjoy this guy.

he's only been with me for today and i love watching him already :D im on the other side of the room and i can hear him actually scraping the bogwood! i fed him half a blanched carrot and a few shrimp which he quickly gulped down when i turned the lights out.

He sounds like he's settling in perfectly!
