TSN X RTC is a "new" hybrid... there are a few which are only in the 2-3 year old range that are more than 40" in length that members on here own. a 6' specimen isn't out of the range of possible at all IMO... but it will take tens of years to get one that size so we will have to wait to see :D

Necro's BigBoy will be there at some point I'm sure :D

So what your saying is that I have some years before he gets more than 4'. And even then is there a known specimen to be bigger than 4'. If so I would like to see a pic of it also. I'm taking it he should be ok in the 30" wide 206g?

I trust your word since your signature gives you the catfish rep.

I would have to agree with the size put forward. I've never had one myself but there are plenty of enormous rtcats out there as proof that 6' is possible and the hybrid has the chance of getting even bigger. I would try to get him somewhere huge as soon as possible just to avoid possible delays once he's way too big for your tank.

For Pictures of a Larger one Check out the Thread "Catfish bonanza" by necrocanis and you'll see his.

The growth from now till 30" will prob be a year only so i wouldn't be expecting any sort of long term time before needing a larger home for it. Ponds are easy to build if you have the space and you'll get very attached to this fish as they really are puppy like. My Suggestion is that either you prepare yourself for a large pond in the next year or get rid of it ASAP as the larger it gets the harder they are to get rid of, and you'll be less attached when the time comes to give it up :D

I'm taking it would have to be an outdoor pond. Dontget me wrong, hes one cool "cat". Just not sure if I want to go the outdoor pond route. Indoor maybe but it gets to cold in Chicago and not enough mobths for him stay out there.

Don't mean to derail but does anyone might have a home for this guy? He would be free.

Will start a new thread...

Outdoor isn't really an option as he's a warm water fish... water temp would need to be in the high 70's low 80's for him to be happy.

Building an indoor pond is nothing more than a pond liner and some 2x4's it's more a matter of if you have some space for it or not really

It would be years before it hits 4' but it will still grow fast and put on a lot of weight/width. What are the dimensions of your tank, that is the real key to how long the fish will last. The gallon size is important but now as much as footprint, for example if your tank footprint (length/width) is say 6' x 2' then 2' is the max you'd want the fish to grow in that tank. Any bigger and it would be cramped not to mention difficult to get out, I've never tried removing a 30" 30lb+ Catfish from a glass box but I don't imagine it would be much fun.
