Need Help: Thousand Island Stingray Not Active and Not Eating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would still like to see the API test results. Especially ammonia and nitrates. This would go a long way towards us giving better advice.

Canister filters are not removing nitrates from the water. They remove the waste and essentially store it but it is still part of the closed system. I do. Are you adding prime as a way to treat water conditions that are out of wack or to treat new water to ensure it is safe to add?

new water

Ok I am a bit frustrated. We are trying to help you. I assume there is a reason you will not provide the readings. New water or not the readings will still tell us what is going on with the tank. At this point I assume you know your water is the problem. I am not going to beat my head off the wall trying to help you if you won’t even attempt to help yourself. Your tank is set up for failure.
Good luck for the fishes sake. I’m done with this thread.

Well we are not here to beat on you at all. We are honestly trying to help you.
I can only speak for my self right now. But it is quite frustrating to se this kind of threads pop up on an regular basis and the people asking for help dont listen to the help they get.

The thing is you asked for help. You got solid answers with great advice from some of us raykeepers in this forum and you still trying to argue with us that we are wrong?

If you seriously want the help please then accept the help. If not for your own sake but for you ray and asian arowanas sake.

When keeping an ray you can forget all you thought you know about filtration as an ray produces 5 times more ammonia and waste then any other fish. Large waterchanges and overfiltered tanks is the key to success with rays.

For my 3200L tank i have 3 large showerfilters with more then 250L of biomedia then i run an econobead 60 beadfilter wich is supposed to handle an koipond of 30000L. Thats the amount of filtration needed with rays.

So please post your testreadings of ammonia nitrite nitrate and ph

when did I say I don’t accept your suggestions? I did say in one of my previous posts that I am considering upgrading the filtration. I have tried to respond to everyone as much as can. I cannot post the readings till I get home. Did I for once say I won’t post the reading. My original post had the reading btw
all I am asking is please be patient with me

Well yeah you did say you where considering buying another canister. But when we pointed out that your fx6 isnt enough you ranted on about that the farm your arowana came from said its enough.
Even when more then me told you that filtration aint enough. But as i said. Up your wc to 80% twice a week and test your water every day for some time and you might pull this of. The än you considering buying a larger tank of at least double the amount of water with an good footprint and get an large sump for that tank.

I think I was ranting about the filtration right at the beginning. Post that I accepted the need for a change. If I were you I would take the latest posts rather than the initial ones simply because the later ones are more recent. But if it’s all about proving a point then you are right.
Anyways I am home now. Will post the parameters in 10 mins.
