Need help to recover my pearl Arowana floating vertical with head up and tail down

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have turned off the heater now and temperature is getting reduced gradually.
planning to change water.will change of water be a good idea now...?
Arowana is not having anyother infection than floating vertical. For floating vertical i have treated with non iodized salt and as i mentioned earlier i have added 30ml of the special arowana gaurd solution in my 60 gallon water.

Water change will be a good idea for sure. It'll bring the temp down and reduce any bad water.

Thx for the quick response,
Ill change the water and closely monitor it.
Can i change it to a smaller container which can hold 5 to 10 gallon of water.?

Yes. But please do not reuse in any aquarium.

Hi,
The arowana is responding good for the medication i guess. The current position of the arowana is attached in the image. I want to know that weather this is a improvement to the previous stage or the condition is going critical. Today i noticed that one side of the eye ia cloudy. Suggestions required.

Not sure I would call that responding good. I think it's worsened. The potential to turn over and be right up was in the beginning.

It's been a while. I'm not sure it will recover. It looks like it maybe uncomfortable like that. My suggestion would be to put the fish down. Just my opinion.

I'd stake most of my money on water parameters being the issue here. Every two weeks is not enough for water changes. Get a test kit, learn for next time as I'm going to agree with above that that fish needs put down.

as a last ditch effort you could try separate smaller container with 100% new water at around 77 degrees, put air stone in, and hold the fish with one or two hand kept upright and move it slowly back and forth to help flow water through the gills. This is normally done with helping fish that wee just caught and are struggling to remove when fishing.

I would give it about 20-30 mins try and if no improvement I would put it down.

Make sure the tap water is safe to use and treated with prime or equiv.

good luck

This is a swim bladder issue. Act fast and it can be remedied. Some young Aros are prone to such problems. Use Epsom salt and turn the heater back on to 30c. Lower the water depth to just above the Aro. The higher the water level, the higher the pressure on the malfunctioning swim bladder. It could take a few days to a month to rectify. A bit of Be Furan is beneficial too. It could have secondary issues besides swim bladder but unless it's severe, it's best to treat them one at a time. Use your judgement.

Usually swim bladder issue is when there is pressure on it from something else in the stomach cavity or there is trapped air inside it (so please do not induce air into it as suggested) or a bacterial infection.
