Need help with arowana Tank mates...

Fei Feng flagtail prochilodus, datnoids, parrot cichlid, ray, giant gourami, peacock bass, oscar all good w/ aro

The giant gourami i disagree with. They are angry little critters. And with an small arowana thats not any good idea at all. But the rest yes they work fine. Peacocks work fine when the arowana is bigger since they are quite fast and hardhitting that eats all that they can fit in their mouth. I have seen large monoculus trying to swallow big widebar tetras.

Flagtails are great tank mates for Aros (as long as they're at least equal size or bigger), and they grow very fast, plus will help keep your tank clean. I had a 6" bichir in my 375 with a new 10" Xback Arowana, but the bichir was giving a hard time to the Aro so I took the bichir back to the shop, cool as he was (as much as anything I was concerned that bichirs have such bad eyesight there's the potential for them to chomp just about anything that gets in front of their face, so it just wasn't worth the risk, esp. at those smaller sizes). At just 3" your Aro would need a very very small bichir to be safe imho). When they're all larger I don't think it's an issue and more than a few people do successfully keep them together as such.

Bigger bass will be tricky though aro should start to show enough dominance in the tank especially if it already killed another aro.. gourami i could see them tank mates at adult age but yeah young and maturing gourami will even pick at stingrays.

Aro on aro violence is common. But an aro doesnt start to defend it self at around 50cm. But thats just my experience. Small peacocks are to faisty and will try to eat all that fits in its mouth. Once the aro gets big it will work with peacocks. But then it will also be needing a bigger tank. I got a tank thats almost 4' from front to back and im hesatating to put an aro in that tank due to its capacity to grow to 4'.

Tinfoil barb are good, severums or oscars if your into cichlids, actually any non aggressive cichlids that can grow big will be good. I have mine with odoe pike since i like feeding the same type of food. I feed tilapia most of the time alternate with carni sticks and sometimes i give crickets and worms a threat. Sorry to hear about the other aro, usually two aros wont work, you’ll need 3 or more to spread aggression.
No, the arowana is small, and oscars are nasty when they are small

To grow him quick i would use what i think is called superworms. We call the zophobas here in sweden. High protein food will make him grow quick. A friend of mine grew 5 silvers from 6-7cm to 60-70cm in 6 months with good food and high waterquality.
Thanks for the tip.. also, how would one keep live worms since where I'm from they sell them in bulk ( online)..
