ok.. BIG question that doesn't look like it has been asked yet..

did you test the source water you are doing your water changes with? is there ammonia in your source water?

I have taken the carbon out and added bio stars foam and some ammonia removing sponge. Im running basically the same in the aquaclear and canister. I will get a new test kit tomorrow but my tap water reading was 0 ammonia. I will do a nitrite test right now and let you know. I don't have a nitrate test kit though so I will have to buy one. Mabe Ill buy the master test kit and then have all of them.

Get them in the 180, surely the extra volume will soften the blow? Take all the gravel, filters, decor etc over with you. And keep up the water changes. What id do anyway. And as said before stop feeding.

what do you mean to get a bottom for cultivation? I need to condition my water even though there isn't any chlorine?

Like rocks or pebbles (gravel).. and then you can add that to your up and coming 180 gallon

cycle hasn't started yet. Strange.

as said, don't feed.

as said, aerate the water.

as said, do water changes everyday, but I would change much less than 50%.

I would move them over to the big tank, in any case, with everything else included.

What is your PH?

put out a request to anyone close to Haliburton, Ontario, asking for dirty gravel, filter media, sponges, this is the bb i was speaking of. all the rest is just marking time, doing water changes.

Need a nitrate test to confirm.. but I'mna go out on a limb and say it's possible your getting a false ammonia read as been discussed. Nitrites should be reading if your tank is trying to cycle. Test it everyday for the next week to confirm what it's doing. It sounds like your doing things right and well.

How are the fish acting? Are they gasping? or flashing/rubbing on things? are they lethargic? signs of illness at all?

they gasp every once in awhile but nothing that strange. I do notice them rubbing on the glass sometimes. They do seem alittle lazy kind of. Should I put the water from the 90 in the big tank? and switch everything over or start with fresh water?
