I was thinking maybe some kind of large gecko. So that it'd stick upside down on the glass on top, and that would be neat.
Could you house a male and 2 female tokays in there? or maybe some day geckos?

1.2 Tokays is the usually set up yes. You could house them comfortable in there, but they need their humidity, so I'd check what you could do in that area first. :)

Just stick with amphibians... lizards get stressed out when viewed from above.

I've never heard that one before? I can't see them getting any more stressed being viewed from above than to the side? However, since no proof is being provided I guess its not to argue LOL.

IMHO she could have trouble with the anphibs, humidty is hard to achieve in something of those dimensions and materials.
If keeping lizards or snakes, just provide plenty of hides and planting and IMO you should be fine.

See, I think I'll be able to keep it humid enough for something like geckos, but NO WAY with amphibs... plus I'm not that into those.
Obviously I'm going to furnish it so that there's plenty of hidey places for the critters. I was kinda thinking, if I went with geckos, that I'd put a bunch of live plants in there as well, that way even if the lizards are hiding it still looks neat.
I could see where ground-dwelling reptiles may get stressed from being view from above, but I don't think climbey-types would be that stressed out, since there are quite a few places in the top corner lip of the tank that they can hang out and hide.

I do see what you're getting at, lizards can't spot your approach until you're right over top of them. But I think lizards like leopard geckos would get use to this fairly quickly. The bad thing about a climbing species like a Golden or Tokay gecko is that you'll never see them because they will always be hiding up in the corners of the table.

If you want to go with amphibians, I'd got with a couple of Marine Toads.

It is because a lot of their enemies, well predators, come from above...

If I got a coffee-table vivarium... I am totally keeping my Tiger Salamanders in it.

Geckos will be awesome, but I can't think of a lizard that don't get high strung from being viewed from above.

She keeps saying no anphibs over and over again :S

Kioka, I think with her suggesting tokays, high strung animals arent a problem
