EXACTlY I don't like amphibians that much. They're just not entertaining enough for me. I have a couple frogs, but eh, just not interested in amphibs.
This thing is more of a "display" anyway. So more than likely whatever goes in it is pretty much going to be left alone aside from being fed, cleaned, whatever. I don't care that much if it wants to try to eat me every time I open the door.

I am more concern for the health. The more stressed out they are, the more their immune system get compromised, which make them more fallible to parasites and diseases. This is a concern, especially if you decide to go with Tokays, since most of them are wild-caught and riddled with endo-parasites.

So, WHY would a lizard be any more or less stressed out in an open-top enclosure?
I was orriginally thinking of housing a small tortoise species in it, but I've chucked that idea out the window when I got rid of the overhead-heat part.
I think I'm gonna do more of a foresty-type setup as that will me more pleasing to the eye with or without critters, will add lots of real plants, Ivy along the top inside edge just below the glass.

Still not sure what I'll stock it with. Might get the plants going and monitor temps/humidity and wait until the next expo to actually stock it. That'll give me some time to experiment with the setup to see what is the easiest environment to maintain in it.

The thing is most people don't keep lizards in open-top setups. The North American breeders that do use an open-top... if you seen them they are always stressed out, high-strung and got a weird unnatural head-tilt to them.

Edit: I got an idea for you, and I seen this work well...

A Gopher Snake (Pituophis sp.) setup, and they are diurnal since they will be active during the day. Garter snakes are diurnal too... maybe Hognosed as well.
