i guess the saying is true, once you go black you never go back. The most available source of black rocks is slate which is a dark gray to black rock but you can also use or onyx which is all black with white lateral lines or the last one is smokey quartz its almost like a brownish black. I'd go with onyx, becuase for some reason algae does not grow on it and that can be an advantage.
LOL  maybe for rocks, but for me its "Once you go Asian you never go cacasian!!! :grinyes: "

Yah most people here and on this site tell me onyx. I was looking for like a bigish black rock I dont kno how big but like a big nice looking black rock. I know what Iwant my tank to look like in my head but argh :swear: Its like sand, then it will have a fake catus or 2, a few bigish black rocks and a skull... with a black background... its a crazy Idea I got off a combineing a few peoples Ideas.

we have some obsidian jet black not as sharp as it could be but there is like three pieces and they are maybe 2 lbs a piece so they would'nt be as big as you want unless it is a smaller tank...

Wet basalt looks black, as for obsidian try rock shops and look for large "apaches tears" or other tumbled stones they are smooth and obsidian is pretty much chemically inert, un polished snowflake obsidian rough comes in pieces as large as you could want and is black with small white inclusions and is pretty cheap for fist sized chunks. A good selection of realistic plastic cacti is available at www.earthflora.com

if you live around me theres a lfs that has black rocks and those cactus thingys that youre looking for------------ lemme know

You'll want to stay away from basalt. Most will acidify your tank and all will leech trace metals into your system.
