Need some advice for setting up

Great topic guys. There's my "learn something new everyday" moment for today.

I have not seen very many home aquariums in person with more then 4-6 full grown adults btw

piranha man over on p-fury had a 125 with something like 22 sub-adult pygos in it... pretty neat to see during feeding time. its definitely not something that everyone would want to do, because you need a decent sized tank to even consider overstocking and then you need to have tons of filtration and perform more water changes (religiously), but if you have the tank and the desire to pull it off, the results can look pretty slick.

I'm considering building an aquarium around 800 gallons and stocking it with my Pygos spawn. I'm figuring on having about 300 baby Piranha in the next couple days and another batch within a couple weeks.
I'd be able to charge admission into my living room with a tank like that with 300 or so 3-5'' Natts running around.

I think at that point you'd officially qualifye as a public aquarium. You'd have to hire a tour guide and janitors and order a hot dog and ice cream stand and come up with a brochure with the feeding times and a penny squashing machine that imprints piranhas on them. You sure you're up for the task?

the catfish and RBP in 29g would be one of the main attraction :)

That's just the beginning. At some point I will buy a house. I'm looking around now and when I do find one it will have a basement. I'd actually cut out a section of the foundation and add a swimming pool type aquarium with one glass panel facing the basement. If I did it, I'd do it rather large, similar to the guy who built the 18k and 50k gallon aquariums.

The biggest problem I see would be heating it during Ohio Winters. Florida would be ideal but basements in Florida are a rarity. The next problem would be figuring out how to stock it. I'd probably go with various Catfish, Peacock Bass, Arrowana to name a few. An Amazon theme would be awesome and have a little of everything in it.

don't underestimate the humidity that a tank that size would create... i think that is one of the biggest problems and also seems to be the most overlooked when it comes it massive indoor tanks.

i'm thinking of just putting the rbps in one of my 200gals and letting them grow out in there. but it's gonna be difficult to make sure they eat well if it's in such a big tank. i'll have about 20 all ranging at 2-3" each because i wanted to grow them out. or should i grow them out in a smaller sized tank?
