Friend has as a black banded cat shark. here the past few days it has been acting funny. swimming upside down not eating much. What do you think is wrong?

Thanks for your help.

We're going to need more info - age/size/tank size/water parameters/tank mates/food??

not sure the age but I know got it right after it hatched and now it is 15 inches long. ( everything was fine untill last week. then it started swimming on it side and been upside down )tank side is 100g. dont know what the water parameters look like. no tank mates. food he has been feeding it squid.

Well, tank size is much too small for a 15" shark. I'd say that is likely issue #1. This is the standard modus operandi for sharks in tanks that are too small - "everything is going fine and then it died all of a sudden". But without water parameters or pics, it's very tough to say. Any places for it to hide?

From SRC:

Absolute Minimum recommended tank/pond size: for a single adult Brown-banded a tank/pond with a volume of 750 gallons with a footprint of at least 50 sq.ft - so either a tank that is 10’ long x 5’ wide x 2’ deep or a pond - with a 8' diameter is highly recommended for this species. For keeping a pair or small group(2-3 sharks) - a pond/tank with a minimum footprint of 60-65 sq.ft. and volume of at least 900-950 gallons (so basically a tank that is 11' long x 5.5' wide x 2' deep, or a pond that is 9' diameter is recommended.

well i know he has a big @ss tank and really dont see how that can be a issue. I talked to him to day and he said his water is right on. so any other ideas and how do you make it that way it swims right again?

thanks
