i heard florida is flooded with peacock bass but they're fairly cheap if you just buy them at the fish shop. Shouldn't be more than 10 dollars for juvie monos.

At one time i had 2 lmb, 1 smb & 2 stripers in my 80gal. I also have a 140 gal that had 4pbass twice the size of the other guys in the 80gal yet i had to buy more feeders for the 80g. I'll tell ya, the natives here will beat the chichla any day in a eating contest

Why Keep Cichla when you can keep centrarchid? LOL!
The LFS here havn't even heard about peacock bass. But, the best we have is a petsmart 1 hr away. Sad.
Bass make pretty good pets if gotten very young. They are considered a game fish though, so you can't keep them until they meet the minimum size for angling. Makes it tough. You also need a very large tank, and very good filtration. Remember, these fish can grow to be over 3' long, although that is not very common.
