large mouths are great pets i kept about 6 of them in a pool for a while then put them in my grandpa's pond for stock. and as for a 10 lber being a trophy those are some nice sized fish but you should try to fish texas for lmb they are just massive 3 foot is not a stretch at all they can and do achieve this size you just dont always catch them they are smarter than them little 10 pound foot and a halfers you are catching they get bigger than 10 pounds in iowa ive caught a 15 pounder just to release it cause i hate the taste of bass

The records in Texas show the largest bass caught was 16 pounds and 28 inches...big but i don't think they can reach 3ft. Besides, how often are you going to waltz by a 16 pound bass?

I am not out of my mind. Try searching for bass records in texas. I'm done with this one.

They are called "RECORDS" for a reason... they are VERY rare. No one can tell me that a bass is going to get to be more than 24 inches in a tank.

There are so many people here that don't know anything about bass. It's sad.

Just an FYI to all of the uneducated out there. A male bass will achieve the maximum length of 16-19 inches. So if you had a male bass in your tank, you would never ever have to worry.

As responsible fishkeepers, we are supposed to make arrangements FOR THE WELL BEING OF OUR FISH. Not what we think a bass will grow too. There is a reason that Bass don't get that big in the wild very much. It's called death. But that does not mean that you should limit your tank size based on what you see in the wild, as these fish can, and will, grow to a length of 3 feet. They are genetically encoded to do that. Keeping them in a smaller tank that can't handle that size fish will eventually result in growth stunting, renal failure and the premature death of your pet.
Yes, male bass will stay a little smaller. Although 16-19" is way to small. I have personally caught a 30" Male LMB, he was watching a nest, so I know he was male.
I have caught many fish over three pounds, and many over 10. Don't try to tell me about bass, I catch more in a day's worth of fishing than many people do in their entire season.

There is no such thing as a male bass of 30 inches! LMAO... you are hilarious.

lets see, k or SW kid.....
i trust k.
And i dont know male from female, but iv personnally seen my uncles bass well over 2 feet. well over......

thanks for the kudos. The female bass does not guard the nest, just the male, so it's easy to tell when you can see em, and catch em. I may be crazy, but I know my monster natives.

A 30 inch MALE???? Was this next to a nuclear waste dump or something???

Record bass get up to about 26-28 inches... NOT 36 inches. there is no such thing.

I am an avid fisherman. That is the only reason why I wanted to keep natives. Being born and raised in Florida, living on a freshwater canal and lake all my life catching tons and tons of bass.... I have never even heard of a 36 inch bass let alone even finding one on the internet.

A 10 lb bass (for those who don't know "a trophy bass") will only be about 22-24 inches (if that).

There is no way in creation I'd ever believe a fish aquarium keeper guy telling me about a 36 inch bass.

24 inch bass are rare, let alone a 36 inch!!!!!!! Be realistic guys. Come on and come back down to earth for a sec. I bet half of you have never even caught a 3 pounder (14-16 inches) let alone even seeing a 36 inch bass.

You guys are pretty funny.

listen kid if you haven't seen any big bass sorry for your loss... your canal really isn't the best place for big bass...i got to trout lakes and catch bass over 24" regularly...i have fish more in the last 5yrs then you problibly have in your life...as for the records all captive fish should get atleast as large if not larger then the records as they don't have predation, illness or compitition...feed you fish correctly and you will have big fish...
