not try to fool any one. they are close to it! the pond is a deep cool pond. iv fished it a few times. i know they arnt actually 3 ft but they arnt too far off. these LMB have eatten macovie ducklings. and if uv ever seen a macovie, they are big freakin ducks!!

i kept mine with south americans- they picked on him for a little while but he did fine. one of the most personable fish i ve ever owned. he used to spend alot of time looking out of the tank people watching. an he would come right up to my hand when i was cleaning the tank- just curious i guess,

Haha... yeah right. Ain't foolin me.

I hate when people are saying that bass get over 3 feet long and stuff. The longest bass is 29-30 inches and that's VERY rare.

Try 20-24 inches for a nice big bass. And that will take a few years to grow.

If you get a 5-6 inch bass, you could probably keep it in a 150 gallon tank for 2 years before you had to upgrade.

Very True, and I have two LMBs in my 150, if they are males I figure theyd be good for life or close to it cause males only get 12-15inches. They are my pickiest eaters though, they only eat minnows and meat (I feed them hot dogs and chicken sometimes) but they wont even look at pellets, I have them with 2 warmouth (also picky eaters), a bream, and 2 bullhead. i had them with pbass. the only trouble i have with them is sometimes they mess with eachother, but it only seems when fighting for food. And living in orlando theres no pbass up there. After the cold spell they seem to be only remaining in miami (even big die offs there), they were here in palm beach county but havent seen any since the cold. And the Lfs in florida are notorious for lacking in exotic freshwater fish, we are too salt water oriented.

Not trying to start something but.......... I'm sorry, but it is statements like these that make the people from NANFA stay away from this site. Which is sad, because they have alot of knowledge.
As I stated before, Largemouth bass slow down considerably in growth once they hit sexual maturity. However, they do continue to grow for the rest of their lives. There really isn't a max size per se in the whole centrarchid family, just really old fish.
If you want to properly care for your bass, expect 3'. Yes, he might only live long enough to grow to 18", probably less if your feeding him hotdogs and chicken.

Record bass get up to about 26-28 inches... NOT 36 inches. there is no such thing.

I am an avid fisherman. That is the only reason why I wanted to keep natives. Being born and raised in Florida, living on a freshwater canal and lake all my life catching tons and tons of bass.... I have never even heard of a 36 inch bass let alone even finding one on the internet.

A 10 lb bass (for those who don't know "a trophy bass") will only be about 22-24 inches (if that).

There is no way in creation I'd ever believe a fish aquarium keeper guy telling me about a 36 inch bass.

24 inch bass are rare, let alone a 36 inch!!!!!!! Be realistic guys. Come on and come back down to earth for a sec. I bet half of you have never even caught a 3 pounder (14-16 inches) let alone even seeing a 36 inch bass.

You guys are pretty funny.

Why Keep Cichla when you can keep centrarchid? LOL!
The LFS here havn't even heard about peacock bass. But, the best we have is a petsmart 1 hr away. Sad.
Bass make pretty good pets if gotten very young. They are considered a game fish though, so you can't keep them until they meet the minimum size for angling. Makes it tough. You also need a very large tank, and very good filtration. Remember, these fish can grow to be over 3' long, although that is not very common.
3' LONG! I HOPE YOUR TALKIN BOUT THE CICHLA.
