Caught a 26" monster bass around here not too long ago. Just a massive fish, big fight too.

also just to add to the male max size...my brother has a 22" small mouth bass that he mounted... it was a male...it was 6.6lbs...these fish don't need to be 16-30lbs to have the length and still be a heathly looking fish...also when you look at pics of the record bass they look like the guys that caught them just jammed a bunch of sunfish into the stomach to add weight...

I've seen bass that were easily 28-30" cruising around the local lake before. Nice fishing spot, but those big ones are SMART when it comes to trying to catch them...

the old saing "big fish don't get big by being dumb" holds true...i most of the really big ones during spawning and in clear pit mines/trout lakes...where they have all the time in the world to inspect it...as they can see it for a long ways off...
