Good stuff, I guess I've found the winning brand thenWhen I got back in the hobby I got Aqueon heaters. They all failed within the first year. Replaced them all with Ehiem Jagers and no issues with them at all. Did the recalibration when I put them in my tanks and they stay at the 75° I set them at.
Good stuff, I guess I've found the winning brand thenDo they seem to heat more efficiently than regular heaters? I noticed the 300W says it works for aquariums up to 260 gallons which seems like a pretty powerful heater compared to other brands haha.

I just found out about heater controllers the other day, I didn't even know they existed! Eheim seems like the best bet. From further research, it also appears that many people who had trouble with overheating didn't realize they can be manually calibrated lol.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely check those brands of temp controllers.Eheim and Aqueon Pro are both good. Eheim can heat up to 93 degrees, is longer than most heaters, can be calibrated. The Aqueon Pro stops at 86 degrees, is made of plastic, and has a lifetime warranty.
But no heater is trustworthy so definitely get a temp controller....Ranco and Bayite are two brands that work great for me. Or you can get an Apex
Jeez, that's ridiculous... gotta love planned obsoleteness lol.The heater controller is your best bet imo. You could do 2 smaller heaters. I've lost some big prized fish to heater malfunctions.
I've had problems with them all except titanium which I never used. Even my aqueon pros have let me down here lately.
Honestly with design software i have v available you can design materials to start failing after a certain point. I could design something in your motor in your car to start failing after the warranty
