What is a predator for an 18 foot burmese python in the Everglades? The only thing that even comes close is a 8 foot gator to the best of my knowledge.

8 foot gators are midgets in the Glades . There are some monsters there. I dont disagree with you at all that pythons eat gators.

I doubt pythons kill nearly the amount of gators which are trapped, killed DAILY because they leave the immediate glades area and have the audacity to go near the growing human encroachment.

Great pics. Thanks. Have only seen pic #3

4th pic is great. I allways thought 9 out of 10 that would be outcome but pics #1 and #2 I am not sure who will kill who lol.

Blows my theory out of the water :(. I have never been lucky enough to actually see one regardless of Glades terrain.

I wouldnt say blows your theory out of the water .im sure the are 6ft+ pythons eating baby gator they just eat them quick so it would be rare to get a pic of this.I read in one of the articles they found bobcats in the stomachs of pythons that came from the glades area.

wellllllll

I can see why they want to do it. So much for saving the $100 bucks you would have had to spend on a permit and the $40 bucks for the proper locking system on the cage.

This story is so sad

Guess its time to start making cowboy boots!!!!!!

Considering the monster gators you see at the glades my theory was that though pythons do eat gators in long run its gators who eat pythons and get bigger and fatter due to it.

However in 2 of those pics its hard to say if the smaller python might not actually be able to kill the gator.

a gator most likely would not go for a python. its more likely to be the other way around. and since they are not native to the ecosystem, they have no predators.

I think a gator would go for anything it can . I cant fathom a gator passing anything up esp if swimming near it

I would tend to believe that adult gators have no natural predators and would therefore attack anything within it's range with no fear...

I agree and some are truly monsters. This guy is on an 8 feet wide canal connection pipe and he is small compared to the monsters by the Glades.

I cant fathom even a mid/large gator being killed by a python.

This guy is still in area and lets me pet him . Kidding :nilly:

I ran a moving company in Wilmington NC years back and we moved a lady out of a golf course community after a gator ate her dog while it was drinking out of a pond on the course... The lady was playing golf and watched the whole thing... it really horrified her... We didn't get a tip on that job as it was obvious I was fighting back a smile while she told the story...

Think about it... the Rep in Florida is killing snakes because they are a threatening invasive species... I wonder what the gators consider humans?

PS - Sorry for the off topic post
