Don't bother with one of those. Just buy a generic water filter from Home Depot or Lowes, and get the micron filter to go with it. You can get it for like $20 I think.

how many gph can you push through a water filter from lowes? Thats the only problem i can see and that the cartages are re-useable.

to the left is the furnace/water heater. in front of is my work benchs. behind it is a bed room. cant go below because its in the basement.

what's above and who said it had to be adjacent at all you're telling me there's no where in your house for a sump?

above is the kitchen. my house is very small as is. no room unless i did a sump outside. then id need a pump the size of a 1ton truck to get water to it and then theirs the problem of heating/cooling.

mike i only have somewhere around 10 inches above the tank before lighting because of air duct work.

? pump the size of a 1 ton truck? try any pond pump north of 3000gph, my 6600gph pond pump was a mere 150$, a drop in the hat comparedto the cost of your viewing window.

also just find room for 2 55g drums that should be sufficient.

6600gph at how much head?
at 1ft, at 12ft (far more than needed to get out of a basement) it puts out 3500gph, it max's out at 27ft of head. If you went with a mechanical driven pump such as a pool pump you could easily hit 40'+ of head.

seriously, DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON FILTRATION. find a spot for 2 55g drums and get a couple pumps to ge the water there and back. Theres no point in building a 1000g tank to not filter it.

nes, look at the last 2 pages of my post. what if you did something like this for your filter except bigger. mine is a bare minimum for now until i get back from my trip.. but you could easily do the same thing on the side of the tank with bigger/more plastic drums (i also think this is what yogurt is talking about but i only skimmed threw this thread real quick). and my pump would be plenty to filter your tank. i have 4 overflow bulkheads 2 are 2 1/2 inch and 2 and 1 inch and they cant keep up with my pump so i had to back it off about half way. just a thought
