What is the combined flow rate of all of those?

lets see: 450gph(manufacturer rating, probably lower) x 20 = 9,000gph of flow for a 9x hourly turnover, not too bad.

I have never been a fan of canisters; however, I would have gotten 10 FX5s.

I have an eheim 2028 for my 55 gal. My hubby thinks I'm silly for it, says a canister is "too much work". But then again, I don't see him taking care of the seven fish tanks I have set up in this house.

More power to you for it! Would love to see pics when it's stocked!

There is a logical reason why 20 filters is a bad idea: extending filter maintenance just leaves all the solid waste decaying longer adding to the nitrate level.

That's like going from one kitchen trashcan you take out every two days to having 20 trashcans and leaving them all in the kitchen for over a month. The kitchen going to smell worse starting on day three and stink on day 40!
