New 2 x Leo Stingray with disappointing result......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would throw a divider in if I where you just to give them a better chance to eat without stress from the other rays. You can make a divider very easily with egg crate light diffuser bought from any home improvement store and some suction cups.

That way you get the benefits of having them alone without the stress of moving them.

Good luck either way I hope it works out :)

I was thinking the same thing. Eliminate any more possible stress on the rays. I agree with whoever it was that said they look young to ship they are very sensitive but I have confidence in you to help them accumulate nicely and get them eating.

Sellers like this should be named and shamed this is what forums are for to help us stop getting ripped off
The seller knows he is wrong or why hasn't he come forward to explain

The rays were not starved for 3 days they have not been eating for weeks

If they were just starved for 3 days and were eating well before then no way would they be that skinny this is a FACT and something anyone who knows about rays wants to say

The problem is no one ever says what they think it's just me who says things out loud

I'm real sorry that we have crooks like this in the trade/hobby but with high priced fish like black rays and Asian Arowana there is always someone out there who will rip you off

Now back to the rays

I have found that most rays if healthy before shipping and have been starved for 3 days will jump on food of most kinds as soon as you offer it
I wish you all the luck getting them feeding as it's not going to be easy

Good luck

Did you see pics of them way before being shipped? If so how did they look? What were they eating before ? Thats where id start first.By the pics in the bucket they look maybe 5"-6" at most, not too small to ship, but too small to go 3 days with out eating, probably closer to 4 days with the freight ,small rays metabolize food very quickly and when stressed even quicker.I feed every other day and small pups at 5"-6" can flatten out with in that time frame.

A small pup should be fed twice a day but I think they were older with the past coments made
I also read that someone had pups from the same batch which had grown 1-2 inch more
I think sellers on MFK should get rated as a seller much like eBay it will so MFK from getting involved and let the public talk and judge sellers

It's a lot of money you are talking about for black rays and I think sellers should earn there good rep and not just be bigged up by there mates

Thanks for the great encouragement. I will do my best and keep everyone posted.

Did they act interested?

Order some black worms. That s what I would do next.

The smaller one did a 360 flip when i drop some bloodworms, but other then that. Nothing else. I will try some blackworms tomorrow when they arrive.

The seller is currently trying to help the situation. He order me some blackworms shipped to my house tomorrow. The only thing that really bothers me is that the rays are so skinny ; 3 days purged before shipping. Posted pix to see if anyone agree that these are more then 3 days.

^^^agreed^^^ But i will also agree that they need to be purged before shipping, if seller doesnt say anything i usually will bring it up

I have already told the seller that they look skinny for 3 day without food. Usually if they are healthy, they would eat after 1 or 2 days.

I received pix but i am assuming they were old pix. What is in the pix seems a lot fatter and healthier.

If the seller told you these were eating and healthy he pulled a quick one on you! To have pelvic bones showing means they haven't ate for a while. Try cutting up some dew worms and throwing those in and then you can also try cut up dew worms mixed with small cut pieces of raw shrimp. Dew worms work good as they have lots of juices inside them that naturally attracts rays. Blood worms also work good to get them eating. I wouldn't let too many days pass without eating when they are that skinny. Next step would be some prazi pro, salt, water changes and higher temp. A UV sterilizer might help if you don't have one hooked up.

I am planning to move them to my main tank where i kept my moba frontosa. I will relocated all fish from the big tank and into the ray tank and vice versa. Tank have 3 fx5, 4 ac110, uv and a sump. If they dont recover in this tank, they are goner. :(

Agreed with shawl and t1karmann!! Let us know who sold them to u

There is no win win situation by calling anyone out as of now,

1st.... More anger 2nd.... thread will be closed 3.... I lose because no one can further provide useful info. :)

Let hope they recover soon. If they live for a week, there will be some hope

I think putting in the egg crate was a good move, It sounds like you are doing all the right things I expect to hear some good news soon. Threads like these make me even happier that Trev is breeding rays about 15 miles from me :)

I would not move them until they are eating. Just keep up with the water changes and trying different foods. Keep the lights off
