Nice! Lookin good!

Did you countersink those nails on the top of the stand before filling her up? Since you aren't using foam between the stand and the tank, those nail heads looked to be higher than the plywood which would create a pressure point on the acrylic.

Yes, went thru the entire stand and counter sunk all the screws and nails. Top and sides both. I of course needed the top as flat as it could be for the tank, then need the sides also as flat as I could bet them to be able to skim the stand out and make sure everything is nice and flush.. Didnt want to use the foam.. Not a big fan of putting foam between tanks/stands..

Ok, cant wait to see it finished.. You gonna do a canopy?

Not sure what Im doing on top yet. I have a 6 foot light I plan to put above it, but not sure if Im doing a canopy or a hanginf bracket. Problem with doing the canopy is getting in the tank. Since the top is not fully open and it only has three holes to access the top of the tank, Id have to make one that would either slide up and out of the way or folds open to gain access to the tank. Still thinking on that part.

thats the problem with ray tanks and canopies. every other day it seems like i am elbow deep doing something in the tank. like attaching the powerhead back to the wall, cleaning, getting stingers out..... always something. i took my canopy off and dont believe i will make one for the new tank.

i think once your skinned out and with those black sides it will look good. keep the updates coming though. would like to see how you skin it as im working on my own stand.

I make a lot of canopys and stands , try a clam shell design that will alow full access to the front of tank, use a piano hinge

Ive thought of that, but the opening for this tank are in the middle of the top, so having canopy only open half way will still be in the way.
Have a few ideas, just not sure the direction Im going yet.
Will work on just skinning the stand out first, then worry about how I want the light above the tank to be.
