Have thought of a conopy for mine as well (hate acrylic lids). My thought is to build it in two sections (unattached). Front and back. Would attach some flat trim where the unattached sections join to hide the seam. Would make both sides of the canopy using 2x2 for the frame to keep it light enough to remove easily.
Ya the more I look at it, the more I think it does need a canopy. Thinking of how I want to design it though. Since I have the Aro, I will still haveto keep the acrylic covers over the openings, but I think it would make the tank look alot better if it had a short canopy to cover it and hide the light. I have to make it easy to get into since most night my wife feeds the tank.
