well cool...whats the best way to keep the sand clean? should i buy i fish that will keep it clean
1. Malaysian trumpet snails.
2. Burrowing bottom dwellers.
3. Hover the gravel vacuum a few centimeters above the sand and simply siphon detritus.
4. Use fork when stirring the sand around to avoid it getting compact which can be dangerous as it will release hydrogen sulfide causing acute respiratory problems and eventual death for fish.

gulpers dont go with anything. even if you think it wont fit in their mouths it probably will. ive been considering setting up a 90g with a colony of convicts and one or two oscars, and some four line pimodellas to clean up the bottom. convicts are overlooked since they are so common and easy to breed, but they are an entertaining combination with oscars, or even on their own. another option is to go african cichlids. ive never had a tank like this myself but have seen some other tanks that are real beautiful

haha burrowing bottom dwellers...bad ass? what would fall in that category?
Most loaches, eels and catfish burrow. What fish have you considered so far?

idk i think i am going to go with the convict type cichlid (not sure which yet) and atleast one oscar because i used to have one and love their personalities. Could a severum fit with these? so what do you think the best type of bottom dweller would be? preciate the input yemista.

Convicts are pretty easy to breed. Getting rid of them becomes the hard part assuming many of the fry survive to adulthood. I'd avoid these fish. Can't hurt to try oscar but they contribute too much bioload if you add more fish there as well. Severums can fit there. If you want the severums, you can always go for loaches or peacock eels. Most loaches love to burrow as do the eels of Mastacembelus genus.

cool....what would be another similar sized cichlid besides the convict that could go with severums. or what else would be a good fish to go with the severum. would you suggest the eel or loach

Zebra loaches, yoyo loaches, kubotai loaches, histrionica, dario or peacock eel, whichever you prefer. Keyholes and festivums make good substitute to cons. Giant danios, arulius barbs and filament barbs will go well with all the fish I mentioned.

cool...ive always wanted giant danios lol. so you think thats the best idea to go with? a couple severums and medium size cichlids with a few loaches and an eel or two? the only thing about eels is what do you feed them?.....you think this is better than having a few big fish

I'd go with either loaches or eels. Only one so there will be plenty of space for them. If you want an eel, peacock eel is fine. They can be picky with foods though. Live ones are generally preferred. If I were you, stick with loaches.:D

Severums and keyholes...It's fine. Giant danios can work well there.
