thanks guys, its a 112 gallon(5x1.5x2)...i know arows get up to 3 feet. all those fish will need a bigger tank. this arow will be 1 feet in less than a year. itll give me a reason for a bigger tank lol. from what i read and ppl telling me this arrow will be ok in this tank for a year or two...after my failed first attempt(impulse buying)...i research my choice of fish hehe. also this tank has an AC 110, fluval 404, 2 sponge filters on either side...so i think its well filtered.
 
LOL, newsflash, that aro you got will be 12" in 3-4 months and will be a 24" monster within a year.

Wrong. They do not grow 2ft in a single year. Ive had one in a 96x36x25 for well over a year and it has only grown a few inches. It was 17" or so when I got it. They grow fast at first but after the first year growth slows considerably. This fish is well fed too. It gets Massivore, market shrimp, tilapia, and wild caught salmon with the skin still on. In most cases it takes a few years for them to get over 2ft.
 
Silver aro's are awesome. Your tank sounds compatable to me. Birchir would too. A size upgrade of a few thousand dollars will be in your future with your new pets.

Learn to read, never said it would grow 2ft in a single year. I said his aro, which is already 7", will be 24" within a year. Do some research you'll find average growth of silver aro to be 1-1.5" per month. Your's that you bought at 17" was likely stunted by it's previous owner. You will find most only slow their growth once they hit the 24-25" mark. Search Sbuse's threads you see his silver went from 3" to 24" in less then a year.

i have a year or two for it. i am always looking for cheap ones in kijiji.

You splitting hair! For sure that aro won't be 2ft or 24" (or grow 2ft) in a single year... 18" max on the first year!
